This Sunday, millions will gather to watch the Super Bowl - some for the football, some for the drinks and parties, and some for the ridiculously high-profile advertisements. For those of us not so drawn to the nuances of the game, these commercials are often the highpoint. Unfortunately, in the interest of "family values" some true shiners always end up getting excluded. In honor of those forgotten soldiers, we've compiled a list of commercials deemed too racy, too raunchy and too edgy for Super Bowl Sunday: the top five banned Super Bowl ads.
5. KGB: In The Hole - KGB, a company providing answers to questions submitted by text message, had their ad banned from this year's game for its very literal depiction of men, "who don't have a clue." It doesn't appear to be too offensive, but apparently the striking depiction of a man with his head up his ass made the censors at CBS feel a bit queasy.
4. Ashley Madison: Date - In contrast to this year's controversial anti-abortion ad - which is sponsored by the conservative group Focus on the Family - is this humorous spot from Ashley Madison, which was banned from last year's game. The decidedly anti-family ad from the extra-marital dating site runs under the tag-line "When divorce is not an option." Ironically, the spot was denied airtime everywhere except that that bastion of liberalism, Texas.
3. Bud Light: Cut the Cheese - What's a Super Bowl ad without a little toilet humor? It seems like lots of beer commercials tend to gravitate in this direction, which makes us wonder what's so obscene about this Bud Light ad from 2008. Evidently, "loaf-pinching" and "cheese-cutting" are too immature for a Super Bowl that just four years prior featured a solitary titty. It's a give-and-take.
2. Airborne: Mickey Rooney - In what might be our favorite banned ad of all time, this spot brilliantly captures the lunacy and paranoia of a well-loved screen personality. Fox, however, didn't see the genius; they gave this one an X for its brief exposure of Mickey Rooney's superannuated buttocks.
1. ManCrunch: The Kiss - This year's spot from ManCrunch.com has been a publicity gold mine for the gay dating site, proving that there's no better ticket to the PR gravy train than getting your ad banned. Good enough to obscure the fact that - despite being a gay dating site - they somehow chose two men who are obviously neither gay nor actually kissing.
