John Legend's receding hairline at the BET awards
Trending topics on Twitter this week have been filled with the foreign-sounding names I don’t quite know how to pronounce, the names of countries I’ve never been to, and the word ‘gooooooal.’ World Cup news aside, here are some of the other news stories and events, as tweeted and retweeted by the tweeters who tweet.

Senator #Robert Byrd of West Virginia, longest serving senator in US history (and that’s saying something) died at ninety two this morning. Byrd spent a brief time as a member of the Ku Klux Klan, filibustered the 1964 Civil Rights Act for fourteen hours and has been reported as using racial slurs as recently as 2001.

Last night, #Queen Latifah hosted the #BET Awards. #Prince won the #Lifetime Achievement award and #Chris Brown cried during his #Michael Jackson tribute performance. Most people, however, fixated on #John Legend’s hairline, which was tragically askew.
