If you’re a lawyer and India and even you can’t figure out how to escape an arranged marriage, it may be time to a) sever ties with your family and/or b) GTFO.

After her sex reassignment surgery, the woman, in her mid-30s, said: "I feel free now. No one can force me to marry.

"It is better to become a man to get rid of sufferings met by women."

Doctors of the woman, who was not named, said they were obliged to perform the operation as she threatened suicide,  The Times of India reported.

However, sources told The Times the woman was "close to a girl" and they wanted to spend their life together, but her parents were preparing her marriage, so she had the surgery.

The woman had the seven-hour surgery in a private hospital at Bhubaneswar, in India’s north-east on June 29.

One commenter wondered how much one-way plane tickets out of Bombay cost. This person is apparently so afraid of leaving the world she’s always known that she would change her gender rather than leave India with her beloved.
