The last bit of news from Comic-Con: the ever-charming Mark Ruffalo (shown here about to transform into an outraged green colossus) will replace the ever-controversial Edward Norton as the Incredible Hulk in the superhero crossover movie The Avengers (making him the third person to play the role in a decade, after Norton and Eric Bana). This revelation follows the news that geek icon Joss Whedon will direct. Norton's great, but Ruffalo is a definite boon; this movie is looking promising.

I had no intention of seeing this, but man I love Whedon and Ruffalo is pretty great, too.

Ruffalo has never played The Hulk. There was a Hulk movie which was God awful starring Eric Bana. It was so bad they rebooted it rather than making a sequel and cast Ed Norton... The Hulk portrayed by Ruffalo in the Avengers movie only follows the Norton Hulk and has nothing to do with Bana's. None of the above directly follow the Bixby/Ferrigno Hulk of way back.

Any time a film company can dump Norton as a possible lead, they're making the right move. The guy is like kryptonite to a functioning production. Good Call indeed!
