Reader Feedback on "The Nerve Interview: David Cross"

I was going to say this dumbass is a good reason why comics should stick to being funny and not sound off on politics and society. But I guess the truth is that this asshole isnt funny so he has to make up for it by spewing out absurd nonsense. I am surprised that a relatively intelligent, eclectic website like nerve would waste space interviewing such a boring, impotent Politically Correct droll like David Cross. I think I will stick to reading "Em and Lo" and avoid the inane interviews in the future.

To show you where I'm at, I've never heard of this guy. I watch satellite TV mostly, but I don't like some shows that I find a little bit sick. A lot of them are comedies. I will watch an occassional queer as folk and I really enjoyed Six Fee Under while it lasted and until everyone except the Gay brother and Mom started looking like baseball stars, including little sister. Has "David Cross" ever heard of Da Free John, or Da Loveananda? Would he, hearing of Him, make fun, satirize Him. I think he would be as bad as President Bush if he did that. Or Chidvilasananda, don't he know her? I hate this all is fair in comedy bullshit where they can fuck with Dylan or Baez or other folks we consider saints or near saints and Their Holinesses like Free John and Maharaji and Muktananda and still go off and take shots at the right wing nut their insanity has created. I know Patti Smith calls herself an anarchist, but remember she is a lesbian and poet too. Don't think you can play the "anarchy game." I doubt most of the comedians even realize they are being anarchists ... and don't want to deal with the subject.

Thanks for saying it: marginalizing dissent I stopped reading the New York Times after 9-11 I had always read the Times - in spite of their stance towards Israel and the Palestinians - I tried to understand their point of view. After 9-11, I felt this bias began to color every other topic they addressed - especially in terms of national security, the war and the Republicans - I thought they used to be kind of liberal! anyway thanks again

I always thought to myself, There's no way a man even uglier than Moby could possibly be funny. He MUST be too busy being angry about being that ugly to bother with thinking up jokes. Thanks in part to this article I've been rethinking that! Now I think he might be uglier than Moby AND funny.

Hmmm...Malvo and Mohammed aside, who are those people in the picture with this fellow? Is that David Cross and the fruit of his fucking loins? He's kind of funny, I suppose. The Learning Annex bit was almost enough to make me crack a smile...he's an activist, but he just seems like a dabbler because of his comedic background, I guess. I had this bias when he was talking about Bush, like, OK, when is he going to stop being serious and be funny? Good questions from the Nerve end. Heheheh. Abashed.

THIS GUY IS A FUCKING NUT FROM THE WORD GO AND I THINK YOU SHOULD TAKE HIS BIGOTED ASS OFF MY SCREEN. I ALSO DO NOT THINK ITS VERY COOL TO SEND THIS INTO MY HOUSE. HOW CAN YOU CRITIZE A BLATANT EXPRESSION,WHEN ALL YOU HAVE ARE BLATANT EXPRESSIONS. YOU ARE NOT RESPECTFUL AND YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT OUR PRESIDENT HAS TO DEAL WITH. THANK GOD WE DO NOT HAVE THE LIKES OF YOU TO GUIDE THIS COUNTRY. I ALSO THINK YOU ARE VERY SIMILAR TO MALVO AND MUHAMMED.

By a bizarre coincidence (possibly) I happen to be listening to a bootlegged live rock album from 1973 from a band called King Crimson, whom I'm very fond of, and they're playing a song called "Exiles", a very pretty song, and a dude who used to be in the band, named David Cross, is currently doing a violin solo; actually a pretty good one. Anyway, I've seen pictures of that David Cross, and he wasn't bald, but he had the same sort of nose. This wouldn't be the same guy, would it? If it is, I know for a fact it's not his first solo album...
