Reader Feedback on "Acid "Rain""

i agree about the ending. this film was all about restraint, emotions under the surface, complexities of lives, loss, etc. the performances and cinematography stunning. its ending, however, is a crude, clunky, LAZY cop-out! how much more interesting it would have been to end before the tragedy? i ended up feeling really cheated out of the film i thought i was loving! i can't think of another film that had this effect on me. sad.

I agree with the interviewer on the ending. I was sitting there hoping that the obvious wouldn't happen. My feeling was that it was too easy. The tension and expectation of tragedy were built up to the point that the tension would have been enough, without the inevitable conclusion. I thought how interesting to make a movie where the audience all felt that foreboding, all imagined the tragedy, then have the tragedy not happen. Enough to know that it could have. Fantastic movie, Christine. I was impressed at the resraint in not making the look retro 70's, but real brown pottery and floral sundresses 70's. You're right, Sarah Pierse was great.
