The Author is, like, so wrong. I saw the White Stripes when they were a nothingwhatever band and were touring around shitty college towns like mine a million years ago. I even MET Jack and Meg after the show- and ya know what? I wasn't impressed with them then and I sure as hell ain't impressed with them now just because they're famous. Get over it.

Is there really nothing else to report than someone's lust for Jack White? I mean come on, they're an alright band and deserve some recognition for making it big...but this kind of has nothign to do with nerve. I'd like to think the article I just read had a point, like listen to the White Stripes, or hooray for the White Stripes, but it really didnt. I hope whoever wrote that article gets some kind of kick back from the record company.

Making a record w/ no gear made after 1962 is every band's fantasy and the ultimate luxury. Almost no band in the world could afford to do it. 'Making do with next to nothing' is using digital technology. It's cheap as hell and it sucks.

In the last two weeks I've bought every White Stripes CD but Elephant. I liked them with reservations when all I had were a few mp3s. Now, with everything from "The White Stripes" to "White Blood Cells" I find myself loving them, purely and simply. No reservations. Meg can barely keep time. I accept that. But I love the way Jack tries to sing just behind the beat, like the legends of the delta did, while the beat itself slips and slides around Meg's drumstool. I love the way Jack attacks his guitar with a slide but always somehow comes up with something more musical than noisy. I love that Jack just wants to play blues songs and his ex-wife was the only one who'd indulge him. They're wonderful. They're ridiculous. I love them.
