Reader Feedback on "Lone Star"

The Education of Shelby Knox airs on June 21 on PBS. Seeing as this was referenced in an email received/sent June 24, 2005 5:43 PM makes it sort of useless. Bit late, don't ya think?

actually, the interview was posted on the 20th and the film premiered on the 21st.

It sure would have been nice for you to run this story before the PBS airing. I was very interesting in watching/supporting the screening, but you ran the story 4 days too late.

Awesome story and awesome woman. I have a new hero.

No kidding. Was this interview heavily edited, or is she serioulsy this fucking brilliant? I heard a bit about this as it was going on, but I am now fully intrigued.

Both interview & movie are great. Lubbock doesn't come across exactly that way.

Absolutley excellent. I can't wait to see it...a friend is taping it. I have three kids in the Lake Washington School district in WA, and have been fighting an abstinence only sex ed group SHARE that teach/preach in our schools this year...this young woman is a beacon of light to other teens who feel despair with 'the system' it's very hard to challenge. The conservatives in my neighborhood have some very close ties to the local chruch, which seems to be in bed with the school board members. I'm further inspired to help our youth get facts, not fiction when it comes to health.

I hope you all do a follow-up interview with this girl. She's a great spokesperson for her cause, and I'll watch her career with interest.

What a bright young woman. Great interview.

Great. And she sounds completely sane for a college sophomore. I'm interested to read now about those who made the film.
